My intention for this drawing was to create a gentle, quiet coastline. I chose a monochromatic color palette, not to be dreary or gloomy, but to highlight the dark and light value contrasts seen in the boat, water, sky, and coast. Each time I glance at this piece, I envision the gentle waves, almost hearing them lapping against the side of the boat. Within this artwork, you will find carefully placed values and lines that draw you into the soothing coastline scene.
