Sustainability

Small businesses can, surprisingly, have a huge impact on the environment, so it is up to us to decide if our impact is going to benefit the earth, or harm it. Unfortunately, we all contribute to climate change, pollution, and the waste crisis, which is why prioritizing sustainability is a mission of mine.

As a small business, I continually want to be environmentally aware, implementing many ways to make my business more eco-friendly.

  1. Source Materials

I aim to use materials that are fair-trade, made with recyclable, renewable, and biodegradable materials; and supporting green procurement.

  • Fairtrade materials: I do my best to purchase only fair-trade materials, meaning that all materials are supplied by ethical suppliers that provide living wages for their employees.
  • Recyclable, renewable, & biodegradable materials: I do my best to use materials that do not contain harmful substances to the environment.
  • Green procurement: In practicing green procurement, I do my best to source my supplies locally to minimize transportation costs and support the local economy.
  1. Sustainable Packaging

The Environmental Protection Agency says that “containers and packing alone contribute to over 23% of the material reaching landfills in the U.S.” My small business chooses to actively reduce waste by intentionally using eco-friendly packaging that does not end up in landfills.

  1. Carbon Neutral Shipping and Delivery

My small business is carbon neutral, partnering with Cloverly to offset our carbon emissions by supporting renewable resource projects around the world.  I ship using biodegradable, compostable, re-used, and recyclable materials.

  1. Zero Waste

Overall, I aim to be as low waste as possible. I email instead of mailing whenever possible, as well as reducing unnecessary paper in my packing. I reduce, reuse, and recycle constantly, as well as composting materials that could be diverted from going to landfills. Avoiding plastic at all costs, I try my best to ship without it!  When purchasing necessary supplies and goods, I support other businesses that prioritize eco friendly packaging and initiatives around the world.
